The following is the response I received from a friend (let's call him “John”) in regards to an article about Wisconsin Governor Doyle's plan to fund “rising costs.”
Jim Doyle continues to prove he is an absolute idiot in the Nth degree. A tax increase of $1.50/bl and the companies will be prohibited from passing the cost on to the consumer?!?!? Oh, and wait until you see the size of the new government entity that will “police” this buffoonery! You can't “prohibit” something unless you're capable of enforcing it.
This is the same kind of communist idiocy behind the RoHS and WEEE initiatives in the EU. “You bad corporations are going to pay to save the world from a fictitious problem we created in minds of the sheeple … and by the way, you can't pass the cost on to the consumer or any local government.”
Where does this dope think money comes from?!?!? Oh, that's right it magically appears on printing presses. I guess that's what the oil companies will have to do. No, wait … when the gov't prints money on paper that has no value to back it up it's economics, but when someone else does it it's counterfeiting and they go to jail! But, that's another issue altogether…
