President Bush, without so much as issuing a press statement, on May 9 signed a directive that granted near dictatorial powers to the office of the president in the event of a national emergency declared by the president. The “National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive,” with the dual designation of NSPD-51, as a National Security Presidential Directive, and HSPD-20, as a Homeland Security Presidential Directive, establishes under the office of president a new National Continuity Coordinator.
That job, as the document describes, is to make plans for “National Essential Functions” of all federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal governments, as well as private sector organizations to continue functioning under the president’s directives in the event of a national emergency.
The directive loosely defines “catastrophic emergency” as “any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions.”

If you are thinking that these new powers claimed by the presidency will not be abused, either by this president or by a future president, think again. Given the increasingly anti-Christian climate of this post-modern era in which we now find ourselves, I would not even be surprised if it were to be eventually used to persecute Christians.
This also plays into the hand of the globalization agenda of the current administration, which is a staunch advocate of so-called “free trade” and the creation of a North American Union (otherwise known as the Peace and Prosperity Agreement) between Mexico, the United States of America, and Canada.
Did you know that the ancient Roman empire was once a republic? It was.
Like today, there was much unrest in Rome, politically, socially, and militarily, when Augustus rose to power as Rome’s first emperor. The people willingly ceded their freedoms in favor of having a strong ruler who would return morals and the rule of law to their country. Anarchy is like any other sin. It may seem enjoyable for a time, but in the end it leads to death.
The leaders of our land do not lead. They are constantly wetting their finger and sticking it into the wind to find out which way the polls are blowing. The morals in our country are plummeting even faster than I would have believed just a few short years ago. It is as if there is a race to be the next first to find a new depth to which we can sink. Our military, the most powerful fighting force this world has ever seen, has been rendered ineffective by political infighting and bureaucratic red tape. Our boys are not even allowed to shoot to defend themselves, unless they first go through a litany of items to make sure they are really shooting at the enemy. Sure, they are being fired upon, but the people shooting at them may not really be a threat.
We are ripe for tyranny. I’m not talking about the bureaucratic tyranny that already exists here today. I’m talking about autocratic tyranny. Since 9-11 President Bush has been systematically undermining the ability of this country to protect itself by refusing to enforce our immigration laws, attempting to covertly merge us into a North American Union, and prosecuting those who do try to protect this land. He has signed laws (i.e. Patriot Act, National Security Presidential Directive, and Homeland Security Presidential Directive) that could very easily be misused to overturn the representative democracy for which our forefathers fought, bled, and died to institute, protect, and leave to us as an inheritance.
Sadly, I think Les Schwab was correct when he said, “…I think it’s too late to save this country. We are going to have to bottom out and start over before we can set things right again.” For Rome, “bottoming out” meant hundreds of years of autocratic tyranny, followed by wave after wave of barbarians sacking and looting the land, and finally collapsing altogether.
Although the collapse of did leave a decentralized Europe, which helped to enable the spread of the gospel message, autocracy under Roman rule did not help the cause of Christ. Have you not heard that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely? The Caesars in Rome claimed to be gods and demanded to be worshipped by the people. Christians were routinely given over to the arena, or to be torn apart by wild animals, because they refused to bow their knee in worship of Caesar.
This was nothing new. The same has happened around the world for millennia. Even as recently as about 50 years ago, if you a comprehensive study of the Second Great War, Hitler saw himself as a god, and sought to be worshiped as such. Take a look of the footage of their cultic rituals from the day. It is very demonic.
Do I think that the United States of America is going to be sacked and looted? In a word, no. It has already happened. However, it is not our homes that have been sacked. It is the schools and the minds of our children that have been looted. Formerly the shining jewel of the western nations, our children now perform at or near dead last compared to the other industrialized nations of the world. In a misguided attempt to make sure our children never cry we have done them one of the greatest harms that can be conceived. We have raised a generation of children, given them a second-class education, and left them largely ignorant of history and current events.
Why would anybody do such a dastardly thing? The reason is simple:
Ignorant people are easy to control.
