It is being reported today by WorldNetDaily and other news outlets that both the White House and the Bush Administration have implicitly endorsed homosexual relationships and homosexual parenting by posting a photo on the official White House government website of Vice President Dick Cheney, his wife Lynne and their newborn grandson, Samuel David Cheney listing his daughter, Mary, and Heather Poe as the parents. The caption reads as follows:

This is yet another retreat of the President from his conservative supporters and the traditional conservative values on which he ran his bid for election. Former President Clinton shamed our country before the world with his scandalous behavior, but our current President is selling us out lot, stock and barrel. He is pushing for the amnesty of millions of illegal immigrants, a free pass to criminals who care no more for the laws of this land than they will after they are granted amnesty. His administration prosecutes its own border agents, sworn to protect the borders of our nation. Probably most grievously, he is using foreign affairs (i.e. Iraq War, crisis in Darfur) as a distraction while he amasses dictatorial powers (i.e. Patriot Act, REAL ID Act, National Security Presidential Directive, and Homeland Security Presidential Directive). His Department of Homeland security even went so far as to list Christian organizations as potential terrorist threats!
We have lost our way. There may still be a minority in our land who serve only the Almighty Creator, but as in the days of Elijah (1 Kings 19:18), a minority of true believers will not save the nation from judgment under the heavy hand of God. There has always been a remnant from Israel, which God in His infinite mercy has spared from utter destruction. In contrast, the only righteous in Sodom and Gomorrah was Lot and his family, and as soon as they had departed, the cities were consumed (Genesis 19:1-29).
There is a way to save our nation with God’s mercy and grace. We must turn back to Him. We must acknowledge God has the omnipotent, all-powerful creator of the universe. We must accept the atoning sacrifice of His One and only begotten Son, and submit to Him as our Lord and Savior. Repenting of our sins, wicked depravity and rebellious nation, we must return to his written Word, the Bible, and submit ourselves whole-heartedly to it.
Much of the Bible is easy to understand. There is no hidden “code” to decipher. The letters, or epistles, of the Apostles to the early churches were written plainly so that all might understand and come to the saving knowledge of the faith. Just read them. The only reason they may seem difficult to understand is because in our sin and rebellion we make them difficult to understand. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). We don’t understand because we do not want to understand. The Holy Spirit uses the Word to convict us of our sin, and that hurts. However, faithful are the wounds of a friend (Proverbs 27:6). God uses the Bible to convict us of our sin because that is what we need. If we were not convicted of our sin, we would continue on in our pattern of self-destructive behavior destroying everything God gives to us.
Parents, do you not try to teach your children right from wrong and what is good and what is bad for them? Do you not do this because you love them and want the best for them? Likewise, God disciplines His children because He wants the best for us, and the best for us is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever! That is man’s chief end and purpose! That is the meaning of life; that is why we were created! Only in giving glory to God can we find true joy and fulfillment in life. Why is it, do you think, that there are so many, many religions in this world? (Even an atheist worships himself.) It is because we were created to be worshipers of God. However, ever since Adam sinned in the Garden, we in our sin have twisted and perverted our true purpose.
President Bush is grievously mistaken, if he thinks that by compromising on fundamental morals, compromising on what is right and what is wrong, is going to be anything but detrimental to the United States. We need to return to our roots. We need to return to God.
