Many well-intentioned Christian parents today send their children off to the government schools each day with the misguided, albeit well-intentioned, belief that their children are “strong” in the faith and need to serve Christ as His witnesses in a darkened world (i.e. the public schools). Tragically, what once used to truly be public schools, of, by, and for the people, have been hijacked by the federal government and other extreme leftist groups. The NEA, together with these groups, is actively seeking to destroy any spark of the gospel that Christian parents attempt to instill in their children by indoctrinating them with a secular-humanist world view telling the children that there is no God, truth is relative, we evolved from apes and slime, and perusal of hedonistic deviant “alternative” lifestyles are good things which we should all “tolerate.”
The problem is this: Galatians 6:1 says, “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” This warning is given to mature Christians (plural) who seek to restore one back-slidden Christian brother. So, consider how much more true it is when the spiritually immature, being greatly outnumbered by the godless, attempt to be a light to the gospel! There is also an implied warning in this verse that we ought not to consider ourselves invulnerable to temptation. Proverbs 16:18 states, “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” When we proudly assume that we cannot, or will not, succumb to temptation or, even worse, make that assumption of our covenanted children, we tempt God to let us, or our children, fall.
The government schools have become an agent of the devil, and Christian parents tempt God in their naive assumption that their children are somehow special and will not be ill-affected by the godless influences to which they surrender their children the better half of their waking childhood hours. Regardless of a child’s spiritual maturity relatively compared to that of their peers, no child is going to be a mature soldier in the faith; they are only just learning of the armor of God and how to wear it; precious few can wield the Sword of the Spirit at all. Many can parrot rhetoric, but sound-bite-rhetoric is not the true, unblemished Word of God.
It is mature Christians, valiant soldiers of the faith who can wield the Sword of the Spirit with skill to make good use of the power of the truth of the Word of God, who ought to be publicly declaring the good news of the gospel and knowledge of the Holy One. It is mature believers who ought to be decrying the wickedness of this age and the perversions of truth that are espoused in the government schools.
Children and babies in the faith are not to be sent into fortresses of the evil one. Christians knowing the truth and the righteous judgments of God proclaimed in His Word, the Bible, ought to know better. We ought to know that it is the parents’ responsibility to raise their children and not to send them off to some ungodly institution to have them instilled with the belief that the truth of God is a lie. Christian parents are without excuse, and it is our own fault, we as parents are to blame, when our children, having grown up in the government school system, are caught by the wiles of the devil and lulled into deception by the siren call of the world.
Children are a blessing from the Lord. He gives them to us as our heritage. A heritage, a legacy, is something to be cherished. It is something to be protected. What is happening in the governments schools these days is a picnic compared to even just ten years ago. It is a picnic! Christian parents who send their children tottering off into spiritual warfare on the battlegrounds of the government schools act out of folly. And their children will bear the consequences.
